Why it's extracted?

Removing the tooth can help keep infection from spreading to other areas of your mouth.

A tooth that is severely damaged may need to be removed. Dr. Heinrichs will assess the area and request an in-office x-ray be taken before deciding on the best treatment for your tooth.

For an uncomplicated procedure Dr. Heinrichs will give you a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed, followed by post op care instructions to take home for best healing results.

For a more complicated procedure, a general anesthsia may be recommended. This allows you to sleep through the procedure and makes a complicated process much more comfortable. Dr. Heinrichs will recommend a referral to a local oral surgen who specializes in this type of procedure.

The removed tooth can be replaced with an implant, bridge or a denture. Dr. Heinrichs will discuss in detail the best options for replacing your tooth (teeth).
